Make Recipe Cards

You might have a pile of hand written recipes and recipes clipped from the backs of boxes or out of the newspaper. In order to organize these, you need to make recipe cards so that all of these recipes can be stored in a single recipe box. If your children are old enough to write legibly, this is a good way to pass recipes and cooking traditions on to the next generation. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Print My Own Recipe Cards
Recipe cards are treasures. They serve not only as convenient way to organize your recipes and keep them close at hand, but as a keepsake to be passed down to future generations. As such, you may want your Grandmother's chocolate chip cookie recipe to be written on something more personalized than an index card. For a professional and unique look, try printing your own recipe cards. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Use Turmeric in Recipes
Turmeric is sometimes called Oriental saffron because, like saffron, it gives foods a vivid yellow color. Ground, dried turmeric, an inexpensive and easy-to-find spice, comes from the root of a plant similar to ginger. It gives yellow American mustard its familiar intense color. Use turmeric as a substitute for pricey saffron in savory dishes, and to add flavor and color to Indian curries, Thai curries and tofu salads. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Dehydrate, or Dry, APRICOTS!: A Food Preservation Recipe
Apricots are one of the first summer fruits. The are full of fiber, beta-carotene, and vitamins A and C. Drying, as a method of food preservation, has several benefits. Unlike frozen apricots, dried apricots can be stored at room temperature and do not rely on electricity to maintain their quality. Unlike canned apricots, dried apricots take up significantly less space and are processed more naturally, with less heat, resulting in a nutritionally superior, less altered apricot. Also, home drying your own apricots ensures they are sulfite free! Add this to my Recipe Box.
